Which Solar System is Right for You?

6/2/2020

Rising electricity costs and the desire to use green energy are very good reasons to start thinking about solar for you and your family. But which system is right for you?

What is your energy consumption?

The best way to understand your energy consumption is by looking at your bill from your electricity provider. There will be an average daily usage in KWH (Kilowatt hours) listed on your bill to give you a guide on your daily consumption. The below table is a sizing guide based on your family make up. This is only a generalisation and you will need to understand your usage based on your actual bill to assist in making an informed decision regarding size requirements. You will also need to consider if you want to completely eliminate your electricity bill or if you intend to only reduce the cost of your power.

Solar System Sizing Guide

1 - 2 people
2 - 3 kw System
Average production of 12 kwh per day
2 - 3 people
3 - 4 kw System
Average production of 16 kwh per day
3 - 4 people
5 - 8 kw System
Average production of 36 kwh per day

Panels and Inverters

There are an extensive range of solar panels and inverters available on the marketing depending on your budget and the expectations of your system. Panels and inverters range in wattage output, type, warranty, colour and size so it is important to understand what you are hoping to achieve through your installation before giving consideration to the system design.

Some questions you will need to ask are:

What is your roof like?
do you have limited space, and do you suffer from shading from nearby trees? There are larger wattage panels available to reduce the number of panels required for roofs that have limited space. If you have shading issues you should consider a panel with an optimiser to ensure the greatest output range can be achieved. Removing the trees causing the shading is a more favourable option. For unsuitable roof spaces, or if you are concerned about the appearance of the system, you can consider a ground mount design.

Is this your forever home?
If you are planning to live in your home for the long term, we recommend investing in a good quality panel and inverter that has a significant warranty attached to give you the peace of mind of the longevity of the system. In knowing your circumstances, we can recommend the best system to suit your budget and output expectations.

Site Visit

A site visit gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding solar products, how the system works and about Airlec as a Company. After the site visit, we will provide a proposal that will outline a detailed solar design, return on investment, and full product information (including warranty) tailored to meet your needs. Once you receive the proposal we can discuss why this is the best system for you.
